2014 Challenges

Drama Series Challenge

Drama Rerun
[I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be able continue Drama Rerun this year. Here are the series on my list:]

• Boys Over Flowers
• Playful Kiss
• Coffee Prince

Saying 2014 was a busy year is an understatement. I really wanted to rewatch these series last year but because of time constrain and issues that takes precedence, watching Kdrama took a backseat. I’m retiring Drama Rerun but my love for Kdramas stays the same.

Reading Goals

6 TFG Books:

• What We Talk When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver

I wasn’t active in TFG for the past year. Aside from being “personally” busy, I didn’t find the selections of TFG’s monthly reads easy to read. I think I only attended 3-4 F2F discussions which I only read one book.

1 Classic
[Any Jane Austen book]

I tried. I did. I started buddy reading Sense and Sensibility in May but I got left behind. I’m still not giving up on my Jane Austen Challenge so this challenge will be extended on 2015.

Series to Finish:

Healer Series by Maria V. Snyder
• Touch of Power [Read in 2012]
• [Book 2]
• [Book 3]

Unearthly Series by Cynthia Hand
• Unearthly  [Read in 2012]
• Hallowed   [Read in 2013]
• [Book 3]

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth• Divergent [Read in 2012]
• Insurgent [Read in 2013]
• [Book 3]

Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins
• The Hunger Games [Read in 2011]
• Catching Fire          [Read in 2011]
• [Book 3]

The problem with reading too many series throughout the years is, it’s difficult to finish them if they pile up. I know, I only have to read the last books of these series. It’s just a few pages/chapters away and I’ll be done with it (what a pep talk, right?) but whenever I get the books and try reading them, I doze off. Some of the movie adaptations were already out and I can’t watch them because I want to read the books first. I’m still thinking if I’ll include them again in my 2015 Challenge. We’ll see.

Series to Continue:

The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
• [Book #]

Lux by Jennifer L. Armentrout
• Onyx (Lux, #2)

Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan
• [Book #]

Saying that this particular challenge was a pain in the ass is an understatement. OMGee. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare brought me tears––out of sheer frustration! It was a mistake starting this challenge reading Clockwork Prince because it initiated a reading slump! I managed to finish Onyx, the second book from the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout but that’s that. I’m officially removing The Infernal Devices from my reading list ever! I’m selling my books.

Series to Start:

Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness
• Knife of Never Letting Go

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
• Under the Never Sky

Penryn & the End of Days by Susan Ee
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling

This was the only redeeming challenge for 2014. I didn’t start reading all of the series listed above, however, I managed to read ALL of the Under the Never Sky books!

Filipino Novels/Authors:

• Parang Kayo, Pero Hindi by Noringai
• No Strings Attached by Mina V. Esguerra
• Help! Ayoko na sa Jowa Ko! by Ramon Bautista

I can’t remember if I read other Filipino Novels aside from these. Do the books I read when I judged in one of the categories in FilReaderCon 2014 counts?

54 Books (GR Challenge)

I read a total of 200+ books. Most of them are ebooks. I haven’t updated my GR list yet and I apologize for these very grainy images (that’s the best my pc in the office can do). There are some Wattpad novels I read making the numbers around 210+. If I’m gonna write down or add them all in my GR list, I might finish on 2016. BUT. I’ll try. The OC in me can’t settle with that.
